About Hernan Cortez.

This is Hernan Cortez. He was from Spain. Hernan arrived on the shores of Central America in 1519. The Aztecs who lived there at the time thought he was a god because he brought so many new things such as: new kinds of wepons, armor and animals. They treated him like a god for many months. He later decided to take the land for spain. He was determind to break the power of the Aztecs. Cortez took the leader of the Aztecs, Montezuma, hostage, the Aztecs gave him what he wanted for their leader. Hernan had wanted the capitol of this great civilazation, he got what he wanted. In 1520 he left to battle some other country. While gone the Army Cortez had origianlly brought with him attacked the Aztecs in the midst of a great religious celeberation. To respond to the terrible act the Aztecs rose up against the Army. Soldiers fought their way out of the great city in fear of being killed and out numbered, many were killed in the battle, now Cortez's army was even smaller. Cortez returned and was outraged at what had happend. He plotted on getting revenge on the Aztecs.

The following year Hernan mounted a seige on the city, with the help of thousands of native Allies who hated the Aztec Rule. After a couple of months the spanish capture the leader of the Aztecs. The Aztecs ran out of food and water, but still fought desperatly. After many months the Aztecs resistiance fell. The spanish had conquerd the Aztec land.

The later impact of conquoring the land

had a very positive impression on the civilazations. Short term results were that the Aztecs were no longer incharge of Central America, Spain increased it's empire anf spain got to harvest the crops of Central America. long term results were; the spainish languge was brought to Central America, the religeon of Central America changed, new wepons were brought to central America and the whole culte is now a present day blend of native and spanish culture. They also brought many things to the Aztec land such as potatoes, corn and the concept of trade to the land the Aztecs flourished.
