Summary
He was born in the spring of 1480 and was a Portuguese Maritime Explorer in the service of the Spanish Crown tried to find a way to the Indonesian Island by going west. That was going to be the first travel across the world but he died early. But he did become one of the first people to cross all of the meridians. He was also the first person to lead an expedition sailing west from Europe to Asia and to cross the Pacific Ocean. He was also the first person to enter into the Pacific Ocean through the Magellan Strait, which he discovered and was the first person to get to the Philippines which were unknown areas to them.
Death
Magellan died on April 27, 1521. He was in The Philippines on the island of Mactan. He had made allies on a different island and they sent him here to kill the man named Lapu Lapu. Lapu Lapu had an army of men and so did Magellan, But Magellan only had 50 men left. In the battle He was swarmed be Lapu Lapi's tribe, they were attacking him nonstop. His helmet got knocked of be them and they had the opening and one of the tribe members threw a Baboon Spear into his face. But at the same time he had stabbed his lance into that tribe member. He could still move and also had the same kind of spear into his arm so he could barely hold his sword to fight when they saw this they kept attacking him rapidly killing him. Only 18 made it out alive to complete his voyage back to Spain.
