Henry Hudson
1565-1611
Henry Hudson was an English Explorer and navigator.
His grandson was the founder of Muscovy Trading Co.
He grew up in England and was well educated later, he got married to a woman named Katherine Hudson.
They had three children named John, Richard and Oliver.
Henry Hudson went on many voyages for his grandson's company.
Many water bodies were named after him such as the Hudson River, the Hudson Strait and the Hudson Bay.
He is famous for exploration voyages.
He founded the Hudson River.
A few of the voyages he went on were discovering passages or routes.
His first voyage was to discover a passage by the North Pole to China and Japan.
His second voyage included finding a passage through the Artic, North of Russia.
In 1609 Henry Hudson sailed down a river that was later to be named the Hudson River.
His ship was called the Half Moon.
