The black hawk war is a story about the Indians last stand before the white men completely took over. The Sauk Indians were sent off they’re lands to make room for white men to live. They came back shortly after the winter to live in peace with the white men. Chief Black Hawk sent messengers to the white men with peace, all three of the messengers were shot. With the messengers dead, Black Hawk took this as a sign of war and soon enough, had over two thousand blood thirst Indian’s ready for battle.
The war had started when Black Hawk was captured but was able to escape his capture with hundreds of cattle. From that point on he was looked a pone as a war chief. The main target of Black Hawk was to steal cattle for his tribe but there would be no regret for any white men that were killed in the process.
Black Hawk’s rain ended at Bad Axe River. He and his tribe were ambushed. He raised a white flag of surrender but the white men ignored it. The white men killed all of Black Hawks’s tribe. Men, women, children, they didn’t care. Black hawk was able to escape and soon turned himself over to the English. He was released in 1833 and returned to what was left of his tribe.
