532 - Nike Revolt in Constantinople

The Revolt of Nike in  Constantinople
 
 
 
 
           The revolt started at a Chariot race. The blue and green teams often fought at the chariot race. The fighting broke out on to the streets.The emperor, Justinian and and his wife Theodora hid in the castle. There were a lot of flames so Justinian's advisers wanted him to run but Theodora told him to stay and fight. So Justinian stopped the revolt. More then 30,000 people died in that revolt.
           Justinian was the best emperor of Byzantium because he rebuilt the city of Constantinople with bridges, hospitals, better roads, parks and churches like the Hagia Sophia. (see below).
